Educators in Catalonia and Valencia plan new protests

Educators in Catalonia and the Valencian Community are preparing for renewed mobilizations and potential strikes following the start of the new academic year. The Assemblea Educativa de Catalunya (AEC), representing over 32,600 professionals, is developing a protest calendar that could be finalized by late October. The AEC is considering coordinating actions with other public service sectors, such as healthcare and firefighting, to address ongoing labor conflicts.

Key demands from educators include improved classroom climate control, increased staffing to accommodate new students, more resources for inclusive education, and better support for reception classrooms.

In the Valencian Community, staff at IES Joan Coromines have resumed protests to denounce issues such as staff reductions, unfilled teaching vacancies, and a lack of administrative personnel. They have also expressed concerns regarding the lack of progress on classroom air conditioning and uncertainty surrounding the relocation of their school facility.
