EFKA reports historical low in pending pensions and 42-day wait time

EFKA Governor Alexandros Varveris reported that pending pension applications have reached a historical low, with just over 12,000 cases currently outstanding. The average waiting time for pension approval has significantly decreased to approximately 42 days.

Regarding future adjustments, Varveris confirmed that the personal difference for pensioners will be eliminated with the 2027 increase. This increase, which is linked to inflation and the consumer price index, is expected to be reflected in bank accounts during the December 2026 payment for January 2027.

On the subject of debts, KEAO's latest quarterly report shows liabilities to insurance funds at 52.4 billion euros. Varveris noted that of a recent 600 million euro increase, 400 million euros involved existing transferred debts, while approximately 200 million euros are related to EFKA's integration into KEAO and the expansion of the debt base.
