Overview

A new annual €400 financial boost, sometimes referred to as the ‘13th national pension’, is planned for approximately 2.2 to 2.3 million beneficiaries. This follows previous supplements of €250 and €300. Eligibility has expanded due to the removal of income and property restrictions; qualifying groups include retirees aged 65 or 66 (depending on specific criteria), survivors' pensioners aged 60 and over, disability pensioners, and certain uninsured elderly. The payment is expected to be processed automatically in late November or alongside December pensions. However, Giorgos Koutsibogiorgos, president of the Pensioners' Confederation (AGSSE), has criticized the exclusion of certain groups, such as sailors and those who retired early due to unhealthy working conditions, calling for the implementation of 13th and 14th pensions.
