Egypt advances digital infrastructure via judicial AI pact and new submarine cable

Egypt is advancing its digital infrastructure through new partnerships in both judicial technology and maritime telecommunications.

A cooperation protocol has been signed between the National Telecommunications Institute and the State Lawsuits Authority. This agreement aims to support digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. The initiative includes specialized training programs for judicial members and technical consultancy to enhance digital justice and the ability of judicial cadres to manage modern technological challenges.

Separately, Telecom Egypt has signed an agreement with the Greek company Power Sub Link S.A. (PSL) to construct a 200 km submarine cable connecting Sharm El-Sheikh and Taba. The high-capacity cable, utilizing advanced fiber optic technology, is designed to have a capacity of approximately 5 petabits. Expected to enter service in the fourth quarter of 2027, the project aims to strengthen the link between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, diversifying international data transit routes between Asia, Africa, and Europe.
