Egypt agricultural exports reach 6.8 million tons

Egypt's Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, announced that the country's agricultural exports have reached 6.8 million tons since the beginning of the year.

Citrus fruits led the export volume with 2.3 million tons, followed by fresh potatoes at 929,000 tons, sweet potatoes at 280,000 tons, grapes at 189,000 tons, and fresh onions at 183,000 tons. Other significant exports include beans, garlic, strawberries, mangoes, tomatoes, and pomegranates.

Farouk attributed this growth to state efforts to enhance product competitiveness, adherence to international standards, and the expansion of export markets. To ensure quality and control, the Ministry has implemented a digital coding and tracking system for all export farms, monitoring products from the cultivation stage to the final consumer. The government views agricultural exports as a vital source of foreign currency and national economic support, with plans to expand into new markets across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
