Egypt Agriculture Minister launches wheat support initiative

Egypt's Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, has convened an extensive meeting to implement the outcomes of the Egypt Forum 2026. The meeting focused on establishing an urgent executive plan to develop the agricultural sector and ensure food security.

A key component of this plan is a new initiative to support small-scale farmers. The program aims to prepare one million acres of land held by farmers with less than two acres for wheat cultivation. To reduce the financial burden on these farmers, the Ministry will provide agricultural mechanization and equipment at a 50% discount on total costs.

Additionally, Minister Farouk directed efforts to enhance livestock productivity through genetic improvement and artificial insemination programs to increase red meat and dairy production. The initiative involves coordination between various ministerial bodies, including the Agricultural Research Center and the Desert Research Center.
