Egypt and Chevron discuss connecting Aphrodite gas field to Egyptian infrastructure

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, held a video conference with Javier Larrosa, Chevron’s President of Core Assets and Emerging Markets, to discuss accelerating the connection of the Cypriot Aphrodite gas field to Egypt’s infrastructure.

The discussions focused on finalizing the technical, financial, and commercial frameworks required to move the project toward the implementation phase. Badawi emphasized that the gas cooperation between Egypt and Cyprus enjoys high-level political support, which provides momentum for the project. He highlighted Egypt’s advanced gas infrastructure and its capacity to accommodate resources from the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Additionally, the meeting addressed Chevron’s plans to expand its activities in the Egyptian market, specifically regarding natural gas exploration and production in the Mediterranean. Both parties expressed a commitment to intensifying coordination to finalize agreements and increase local gas production through new drilling and exploration efforts.
