While the Republic of Cyprus is developing the Cronos gas field to export via Egypt, Turkey has commenced construction on a 101-km bidirectional natural gas pipeline to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). This project aims to link Anamur to Teknecik, potentially serving as a future corridor for Eastern Mediterranean gas to Europe, though it faces intense opposition from Greek Cypriot authorities.

In Northern Cyprus, President Ersin Tatar and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel have reaffirmed the TRNC's sovereignty, rejecting any "two-track" negotiations and emphasizing the island's strategic role within Turkey's "four-vatan" vision. Domestically, the TRNC government is focusing on infrastructure, including fiber-optic rollouts, hospital construction, and agricultural support, supported by significant financial cooperation from Turkey.
