Egypt and Huawei discuss local energy storage battery manufacturing

Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Esmat, met with Benjamin Houwei, CEO of Huawei Egypt, to discuss the progress of a project for the local manufacturing of energy storage batteries.

The initiative aims to establish several independent storage stations with a total capacity of 4,000 megawatt-hours. The project is part of Egypt's national energy strategy to expand renewable energy use, transition to a smart grid, and ensure network stability and flexibility.

Discussions included technical and economic feasibility studies for various locations across the national electricity grid. The project seeks to utilize modern technology to support the grid during peak hours and maximize the returns from renewable energy projects. Additionally, the meeting covered digital transformation, smart solutions, data centers, and the modernization of telecommunications systems within the national electricity network.
