Egypt and India target $12 billion in bilateral trade
Egypt and India are working to expand their economic partnership, aiming to increase bilateral trade to $12 billion. This target represents a significant increase from the approximately $4.2 billion recorded in 2025.
During discussions in New Delhi following the 18th BRICS summit, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi explored cooperation in several key sectors, including manufacturing, information technology, clean energy, green hydrogen, pharmaceuticals, and the automotive industry. President el-Sisi highlighted Egypt’s strategic location and its trade networks as advantages for Indian companies, particularly through the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
President el-Sisi emphasized that Egypt serves as a vital gateway for Indian access to African and European markets. The partnership also aims to foster collaboration between universities and research centers to support innovation and the digital economy.
