Egypt and Mali discuss digital infrastructure and AI cooperation
Egypt and Mali are exploring enhanced cooperation in information technology, digital infrastructure, and digital transformation. During a meeting in Cairo, Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi met with Mali’s Minister of Communications, Digital Economy, and Administrative Modernization, Hamadou Ag Elyane.
The discussions focused on leveraging Egyptian expertise to develop Mali’s digital infrastructure, specifically regarding fiber optic networks and mobile networks. Minister Hindi highlighted Egypt’s efforts to expand high-speed internet through the ‘Decent Life’ initiative, which aims to serve approximately 60 million citizens, and suggested exchanging implementation plans and expertise with Mali.
Additional areas for collaboration include capacity building through training programs provided by the Egyptian-African Telecommunications Regulatory Training Center (EG-ATRC), as well as the application of artificial intelligence in government services and development. Mali expressed interest in utilizing Egyptian experiences in institutional development and regional/international connectivity to support its administrative modernization and digital service expansion.
