Egypt digital transformation and technological cooperation

Overview

Egypt is advancing its digital transformation and technological infrastructure through both domestic industrial security and international cooperation.

Domestically, the Industrial Modernisation Centre (IMC) and Middle East Communication Systems (MCS) signed a protocol to bolster cybersecurity within the industrial sector. This initiative targets operational technology (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS) to support the transition toward smart factories and Industry 4.0. The agreement also emphasizes developing digital skills for workers to stabilize supply chains and increase investor confidence.

On an international level, Egypt is engaging with Mali to share expertise in digital infrastructure. Discussions between Egyptian and Malian communications ministers focused on developing fiber optic and mobile networks, leveraging Egypt’s ‘Decent Life’ initiative. Proposed collaboration includes capacity building through the Egyptian-African Telecommunications Regulatory Training Center (EG-ATRC) and the application of artificial intelligence in government services.
