Egypt and Russia discuss Ukraine and Gaza conflicts

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation to discuss bilateral relations and several international crises. The two officials emphasized their strategic partnership, focusing on economic cooperation, including the El Dabaa nuclear power plant and industrial projects in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. They also discussed the potential for direct flights from Russia to Alexandria and Alamein to boost tourism.

Regarding regional conflicts, the ministers addressed the war in Ukraine and the security situation in the Black Sea. Russia highlighted concerns over attacks on civilian vessels and energy infrastructure. The discussion also covered the Middle East, specifically the situation in Gaza and tensions in the Gulf. Abdelatty detailed Egyptian efforts to facilitate a truce in Gaza, while both sides expressed concern over military and political escalations in the Gulf, calling for diplomatic solutions to ensure long-term regional stability.
