Egypt and Turkey Foreign Ministers Call for De‑Escalation and Support Syrian Unity

Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Badr Abdel‑Atti and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a telephone conversation to discuss ways to curb the recent escalation in the region. They urged the full implementation of the U.S.–Iran cease‑fire agreement and warned that Israel’s continued actions in occupied Palestinian territories and Syria threaten regional stability.

Both ministers reaffirmed support for Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, stressing cooperation with the broader regional quadrilateral that includes Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. They called for renewed diplomatic negotiations, increased humanitarian aid for Palestinians, and a negotiated settlement to the Gaza conflict.

The joint statement also highlighted the need for coordinated efforts to address tensions in Lebanon, Sudan and Libya, and to prevent any further military escalation that could undermine peace and security across the Middle East.
