Egypt and Turkey sign MoU to boost international transport corridors

Egyptian Transport Minister Kamel Al‑Wezir and Turkish Transport Minister Abdul Kadir Oğl met at the fifth Turkish Maritime Summit in Istanbul and signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation on regional and international transport corridors.

The agreement foresees joint projects to develop ports, rail links and logistics corridors such as the “Middle Corridor”, the “Iraq Development Road”, and other routes linking Asia, Africa and Europe. Both sides highlighted the strategic importance of Egypt’s location at the Suez Canal and Turkey’s role in global shipping networks, and expressed intent to attract Turkish investment and enhance trade flows across the region.
