Egypt expands trade corridors and logistics facilitation
Entities: Mohamed Farid · DP World · Karry One · Orange Egypt · Shereef Farouk
Overview
Building on the July‑2 MoU with Turkey and the July‑13 guarantee agreement to introduce the UN‑backed TIR system, Egypt has continued to operationalise its logistics ambition. On 18 July 2026 the Customs Authority and the General Chamber of Commerce signed a guarantor pact to activate the International Road Transport (TIR) system, allowing sealed cargo to be inspected only at departure and arrival, cutting clearance times and positioning Egypt as a transit hub for shipments from Sudan, Libya and beyond. A week later, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Shereef Farouk met with Orange Egypt to advance the “Karry One” programme, which will standardise commercial identity and introduce digital services such as electronic payments, IoT‑based data analytics and cloud platforms. In parallel, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid held talks with DP World executive Mohamed Shihab to tap the global port operator’s network, aiming to lower export costs and expand overseas sales of Egyptian food, agricultural, chemical, construction, apparel and engineering products. These steps deepen Egypt’s push to modernise customs, digitise trade processes and cement its role as a regional logistics hub linking Europe, the Gulf and Africa.
