Egypt and United States discuss Sudan, Libya, and Congo crises in diplomatic call

On 11 July, Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Ati and senior U.S. President’s adviser for Arab and African affairs Mas'ad Pauls held a phone conversation to review recent developments in Sudan, Libya and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The minister reiterated Egypt’s steadfast support for Sudan’s security, territorial integrity and a Sudan‑owned political transition, emphasizing respect for the country’s sovereignty. He also affirmed Egypt’s backing of Libya’s unity and a Libyan‑led political process aimed at simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. Regarding the Congo, the two officials expressed full Egyptian support for international and regional mediation efforts to achieve a comprehensive political settlement in the Great Lakes region. Both sides praised Egypt’s role in regional stability and pledged continued coordination on these issues.
