Egypt announces August 2026 salary schedule and public holiday
The Egyptian government has announced the schedule for August 2026 salary disbursements for state administrative employees. According to the Ministry of Finance, salaries for ministries, authorities, and government agencies will begin being distributed on Sunday, August 23, 2026. This disbursement follows the implementation of new wage increases that took effect in July 2026 to assist with living costs.
Payments can be accessed via ATMs, bank branches, Egyptian Post offices, and approved electronic wallets. The Ministry also scheduled the disbursement of outstanding financial entitlements for August on the 6th, 9th, and 10th of the month.
Additionally, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has declared Thursday, August 27, 2026, as a paid official holiday for government employees, public sector workers, and the banking sector to commemorate the Prophet's Birthday. While the religious occasion falls on Tuesday, August 25, the official holiday has been moved to Thursday to allow for a three-day weekend.
