Egypt announces national AI strategy at AIM Investment Summit

During the 15th AIM Investment Summit in Dubai, Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Ahmed Rostom, announced that Egypt is working with the OECD to develop a National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. The five-year plan aims to expand the responsible use of emerging technologies, standardize government systems, and ensure data security while addressing cybersecurity risks.

Minister Rostom highlighted that Egypt's manufacturing sector has seen positive growth for 19 consecutive periods, contributing 1.1% to the overall 5.1% economic growth rate in the 2025/2026 fiscal year. He emphasized that AI integration should focus on empowering the workforce rather than replacing it.

On the sidelines of the summit, Rostom met with executives from Americana Foods to discuss expansion opportunities within the Egyptian market. He also highlighted the role of the National Investment Bank in supporting the private sector. Additionally, the Syrian Federation of Chambers of Commerce participated in the summit, seeking to build long-term partnerships and attract Arab investment into Syria's infrastructure, industry, and agriculture sectors.
