Egypt economic and infrastructure development initiatives
Overview
Egypt is implementing several initiatives to bolster its economic development and infrastructure. The government is seeking to strengthen partnerships with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to fund priority sectors and climate-resilient projects, while also developing the Egypt Infrastructure Financing Guarantee Facility (IFGF) to mobilize long-term financing in local currency and encourage private sector involvement in water and renewable energy.
In addition to infrastructure financing, Egypt is collaborating with the OECD to create a National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. This five-year plan is intended to expand the responsible use of emerging technologies and standardize government systems. These efforts coincide with reported growth in the manufacturing sector, which contributed 1.1% to the country’s 5.1% economic growth rate during the 2025/2026 fiscal year.
