Egypt authorities seize smuggled diesel and close businesses in regional raids

Authorities in Egypt have intensified regulatory campaigns across the Assiut and Minya governorates to combat smuggling, commercial fraud, and health violations.

In Assiut, Governor Mohamed Alwan reported that supply and oversight campaigns targeting fuel stations resulted in the seizure of 322,800 liters of smuggled diesel. The operation, conducted in the Manfalut center, targeted illegal collection and redistribution of subsidized petroleum products. Legal measures are being taken against those involved to ensure fuel reaches its intended recipients.

In Minya, Governor Emad Kedwany oversaw joint inspections involving food safety, environmental, and licensing authorities. The campaigns led to 18 administrative closures of non-compliant establishments and the seizure of 55 license applications. Additionally, inspectors destroyed 95 liters and 165 kilograms of unfit food products, including meat and liver, and issued dozens of environmental and health violation reports.
