Egypt authorities seize undocumented food and tobacco in regional raids

Authorities in Egypt have conducted several regulatory raids across the Assiut and Beheira governorates to seize undocumented and expired food products.

In Assiut, a campaign targeting the Sahel Salim area uncovered a food packaging factory containing over 9 tons of goods without invoices. The seizure included 5,650 kg of sugar and 3,910 kg of rice, both in bulk and packaged forms. Additionally, 500 cigarette packs lacking documentation were confiscated from a commercial shop.

In Beheira, a similar inspection in the Shubrakhit center resulted in the seizure of 150 bags of expired snacks and 200 kg of sugar of unknown origin. Other confiscated items included 1,750 pieces of sesame and chickpea sweets without invoices, 280 imported cigarette packs without documentation, and 25 sacks of animal feed lacking proof of source. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the violators in both regions.
