Egypt begins August 2026 Takaful and Karama cash assistance payments

Egypt's Ministry of Social Solidarity has commenced the disbursement of the August 2026 Takaful and Karama cash assistance payments. Minister Maya Morsy announced that the distribution began on Saturday, August 15, 2026, following the scheduled periodic timeline.

The program serves approximately 4.7 million families, totaling nearly 17 million citizens, with an annual budget of roughly 54 billion Egyptian pounds. The initiative is designed to support vulnerable families and those in need to help them manage living expenses and secure basic necessities.

Beneficiaries can access their funds through various methods, including post offices, ATMs, ‘Meeza’ banking card outlets, and electronic wallets. Additionally, the funds can be used for electronic purchases or certain government transactions where supported by the payment card.

To maintain eligibility, families must meet specific criteria, including income limits and adherence to program requirements such as ensuring children maintain at least an 80% school attendance rate and participating in scheduled health and awareness sessions.
