Egypt conducts diplomatic talks with Cyprus and Ukraine

Egyptian officials held separate high-level discussions with representatives from Cyprus and Ukraine to strengthen bilateral ties and address regional stability.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty spoke with Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos. The two officials discussed expanding cooperation in energy, investment, and tourism. They emphasized the importance of the trilateral cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece. Additionally, they discussed regional tensions and the need for diplomatic solutions to prevent further instability, specifically noting the importance of avoiding military escalation regarding Iran to protect energy security and international trade routes.

In a separate call, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The leaders focused on increasing trade and economic exchange between their nations. President el-Sisi reiterated Egypt's support for a political settlement to the Russia-Ukraine war and highlighted Egypt's ongoing efforts to reduce regional escalation in the Middle East. President Zelenskyy expressed appreciation for Egypt's stance on de-escalation and discussed the current status of the conflict in Ukraine.
