Egypt conducts intensive market and supply inspections in Assiut and Matrouh

Supply and internal trade directorates in Egypt have conducted extensive inspection campaigns across Assiut and Matrouh to monitor markets, bakeries, and fuel stations.

In Assiut, authorities issued 649 violations over one week. Seizures included 142 kilograms of meat, poultry, and fish unfit for human consumption, 320 bottles of expired mineral water, and 1,450 bags of expired food products. Inspectors also discovered 5 tons of underweight subsidized sugar and 30 bags of agricultural fertilizer intended for the Ministry of Agriculture that were being traded illegally. Additionally, nearly 10,000 liters of diesel and gasoline were seized from fuel stations operating improperly.

In Matrouh, inspections resulted in 27 violations involving bakeries and markets. Authorities seized 570 liters of unidentified engine cooling water and issued citations for underweight bread, lack of cleanliness in bakeries, and failure to display prices or operating hours. Fuel station inspections also identified shortages of 92-octane gasoline and missing mandatory inspection records.
