Egypt implements economic reforms to boost investment and stability

Egyptian officials are coordinating efforts to stabilize the national economy through new fiscal and monetary policies. Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk reported that international investors have lowered Egypt’s investment risk assessment to its lowest level since 2014, citing successful economic reforms. Kouchouk noted that the private sector now accounts for 60% of total investments and highlighted strong activity in the tourism, industry, and telecommunications sectors.

To support these trends, the government is focusing on four priorities: building trust with the private sector, stimulating economic activity, reducing national debt, and increasing social spending on health and education. Additionally, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Central Bank of Egypt Governor Hassan Abdalla met to discuss a national economic transformation programme. This upcoming strategy aims to lower inflation, boost foreign-currency inflows, and strengthen foreign-exchange reserves as the current IMF-supported reform programme nears its conclusion at the end of the year.
