Egypt deepens tourism partnership with Italy, expanding flights and services

Egyptian Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy concluded a delegation visit to Rome and Milan, holding talks with leading Italian tour operators, airlines and media. The meetings aimed to broaden flight schedules, add new destinations such as the Northern Coast and El Alamein, and raise sustainability standards to capture growing Italian leisure demand. The minister highlighted that cooperation with Italy’s organised‑tourism chain is essential for long‑term competitiveness.

At a separate meeting in Milan, Pier Ezhaya, president of Astoi Confindustria Viaggi, urged the minister to take targeted actions on high fuel prices – noting they “continue to impose unreasonable surcharges” – and to speed up work‑permit procedures. He also called for the full operationalisation of Berenice airport and better road links from Marsa Alam to Luxor. Antonio D’Errico of Mistral Tour expressed optimism, saying Egypt has maintained demand and will feature a new exclusive product for the Italian market in the upcoming catalogue.
