Egypt denies reduction in subsidized fertilizer quotas

Egypt's Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources have issued a joint denial regarding reports that the quota for subsidized fertilizers would be reduced starting in August.

The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that the annual quota for the subsidized fertilizer system remains fixed at 2.4 million tons, with no decisions made to adjust or decrease these quantities. The ministry emphasized that shipping and supply programs will continue according to established schedules to ensure fertilizers reach farmers across all governorates.

Simultaneously, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources stated it will continue to secure the necessary natural gas supplies for fertilizer factories to support steady production. Officials noted that stable gas supplies throughout 2025 and 2026 have positively impacted the Egyptian fertilizer industry's ability to meet domestic demand and support exports. Both ministries reiterated that there will be no changes to the subsidized sale prices for farmers.
