Egypt Deputy Health Minister Amr Qandeel Inspects Dakahlia Hospitals and Orders Investigation
Deputy Minister of Health and Population Dr. Amr Qandeel conducted an extensive inspection tour of health facilities in Egypt’s Dakahlia governorate. He praised the staff at Mit Ghamr Central Hospital, awarding two weeks’ worth of incentive pay for their performance, and highlighted the province’s achievement of accrediting 17 primary‑care centers – a first nationwide.
At Mansoura Specialty Hospital, Qandeel identified serious administrative and technical shortcomings, including absent physicians, overcrowded orthopaedic clinics, incomplete medical records, blood‑type shortages, and non‑functioning laboratory equipment. He ordered a full investigation of the hospital’s management and the absent physician, and mandated immediate corrective actions such as increasing orthopaedic staff, updating records, and supplying missing supplies. The deputy also directed the local health insurance branch to improve service speed, establish a dedicated pathway for the elderly and people with disabilities, and streamline patient registration and dispensing processes.
The visit concluded with a meeting of senior health officials to review technical performance and to reinforce the new measures.
