Egypt develops National Economic Transformation Programme
Egypt is transitioning its economic focus from achieving financial stability to fostering productive, private-sector-led growth. While the country has strengthened its ability to withstand external shocks—supported by official reserves reaching $57.2 billion at the end of August and improved exchange-rate flexibility—economists emphasize that monetary stability must serve as a platform for deeper structural reforms.
To facilitate this transition, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that the government, in coordination with the Central Bank of Egypt, is finalizing the National Economic Transformation Programme. Developed under the directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the programme aims to integrate economic, fiscal, monetary, and sectoral policies. The initiative seeks to enhance the economy’s capacity for sustainable growth, increase productivity, and ensure a tangible impact on the national economy and its citizens.
