Egypt digital transformation requires data integration and service re-engineering
Ehab Said, head of the Communications, Information Technology, and Electronic Payments division at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, has called for a new phase in Egypt’s digital transformation. Speaking regarding the upcoming ‘Egypt Forum 2026’, Said emphasized that the focus must shift from merely digitizing existing paper procedures to the fundamental re-engineering of services to improve efficiency.
Key priorities for this next stage include achieving full data integration between various government entities to prevent citizens and investors from having to resubmit the same documents to different agencies. Said noted that while Egypt has made significant strides in telecommunications infrastructure and the expansion of the ‘Egypt Digital Platform’, the current challenge lies in ensuring these systems work together seamlessly rather than in isolation.
Furthermore, Said highlighted the need for inclusive digital services that are accessible to all segments of society through simplified interfaces and increased digital literacy. He also stressed the importance of updating legislative and regulatory frameworks to keep pace with rapid technological advancements, particularly regarding data usage and the governance of artificial intelligence.
