Egypt braces for extreme heat as temperatures soar to 44 °C

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority warned that a heatwave will grip most of the country, with daytime temperatures expected to reach 42‑44 °C in southern governorates such as Qena, Aswan and Sohag. Relative humidity will stay high, making the heat feel several degrees hotter. The agency advised people to avoid direct sun between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., stay hydrated, wear light cotton clothing and limit travel, especially on roads prone to early‑morning fog near waterways.

Wind gusts will bring intermittent relief along parts of the northern coastline, while sea conditions remain moderate with wave heights up to 2 m. Similar forecasts were issued for Kuwait, where temperatures are also projected to climb to around 44 °C with comparable humidity levels. Both countries’ weather services emphasized precautionary measures to reduce heat‑related health risks.
