Egypt Healthcare Authority expands medical cooperation in Africa

The Egypt Healthcare Authority is planning to expand its medical presence and investment across the African continent. During meetings between Authority Chairperson Ahmed El-Sobky and Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs Mohamed Sherif, officials discussed leveraging Egyptian medical expertise to support health diplomacy and medical tourism.

Key initiatives include supporting healthcare in the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa through partnerships with Egyptian investors. The authority aims to transfer Egypt’s experience with its comprehensive health insurance system and provide capacity building for African medical personnel.

Additionally, the authority intends to utilize its virtual hospital—the largest in the Middle East and the first in Africa—to provide remote specialist consultations and training. A new program titled ‘We Care for You in Egypt’ is also being developed to offer African patients medical treatment in Egypt at discounted rates.
