Egypt expands renewable energy sector with new solar and storage initiatives

Egypt is advancing its renewable energy infrastructure through new solar and energy storage developments. LONGi has launched LONGi ONE, an integrated solution combining photovoltaic generation, battery energy storage, and digital intelligence, aimed at supporting the country’s goal of 42% renewable energy penetration by 2030.

Simultaneously, the Egyptian Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, participated in laying the foundation stone for the Sungrow Power Suez plant in the Egypt-China TEDA Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone in Ain Sokhna. This facility is set to become the first dedicated manufacturing plant for advanced battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the Middle East and Africa. The project aims to localize clean-energy technologies, enhance national grid stability, and foster industrial partnerships with China.
