Egypt endures extreme heat wave with temperatures soaring above 40°C

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has warned that a heat wave is sweeping the country, with maximum temperatures reaching 45 °C in Upper Egypt and perceived temperatures up to 44 °C in the south. Humidity is high, making the heat feel several degrees hotter than measured. Forecasts call for hot, humid conditions in most regions, occasional light rain, and intermittent wind that may ease night‑time temperatures. Authorities have issued alerts for sand and dust storms across northern Egypt and the western desert, and for sea‑state disturbances with waves up to 3 m affecting several Mediterranean coastal resorts.

Similar conditions are reported in the Palestinian territories, where temperatures are also above the annual average by about two to three degrees Celsius. Local meteorological services advise avoiding prolonged sun exposure, staying hydrated, and taking precautions against wildfires.

Both agencies recommend the public limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, keep windows closed, and consume sufficient fluids.
