Egypt food exports reach 172,000 tonnes in one week

Egypt's food exports reached approximately 172,000 tonnes over a one-week period, comprising 3,516 shipments from 1,300 exporting companies. According to data from the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), these shipments included roughly 700 different food varieties, ranging from vegetables and fruits to grains and processed products.

Vegetable exports totaled 36,000 tonnes across 40 varieties, led by sweet potatoes at 14,000 tonnes, followed by onions at 7,000 tonnes and potatoes at 6,000 tonnes. Fruit exports reached 25,000 tonnes across 30 varieties, with strawberries leading at 8,000 tonnes, followed by mangoes at 7,000 tonnes and citrus at 5,000 tonnes.

Egypt exported to 156 countries, with Sudan serving as the top destination, followed by Côte d'Ivoire, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia. In terms of logistics, the Port of Safaga handled the highest number of export shipments (645), followed by the Port of Alexandria (540) and the Port of Damietta (514).

On the import side, Egypt received approximately 218,000 tonnes of food products via 1,546 shipments. Russia was the primary supplier of these imports, followed by Indonesia, Australia, the United States, and Italy.
