Egypt football updates: Hossam Hassan extension and Trezeguet retirement denial
Egypt national football team head coach Hossam Hassan has reportedly agreed to a contract extension with the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) that would keep him in his position until 2030. The new agreement includes a significant salary increase, with Hassan set to receive EGP3 million per month after tax, tripling his previous salary. The contract also includes raises for his technical and administrative staff and is tied to performance targets, such as reaching the 2027 AFCON semifinals and qualifying for the 2030 World Cup.
Separately, Egyptian international Mahmoud Hassan, known as Trezeguet, has ruled out retirement from international football. The 31-year-old, who currently plays in the Saudi Pro League for Riyadh, stated he remains available for the national team whenever required. Trezeguet also commented on the high standards of the Saudi league and noted that he does not believe players like Omar Marmoush or Hamza Abdelkarim should be judged solely against Mohamed Salah.
