Egypt garment exports rise 15% to $1.15bn in first four months of 2026

Egypt’s ready‑made garment sector reported a 15% increase in exports, reaching about $1.15 billion between January and April 2026, up from $1.00 billion in the same period a year earlier. April alone saw a 33% year‑on‑year jump to $287 million, the strongest monthly figure of the year. The United States remained the top destination with shipments worth $429 million (‑13% growth), while European markets accounted for 44.6% of total exports, climbing 29% to $512 million. Turkey imported $135 million, Spain $102 million, Germany $67 million and the Netherlands $64 million. Exports to the United Kingdom reached $42 million and Italy surged 95% to $33 million.

Fadel Marzouk, chair of the Apparel Export Council of Egypt, said, “The strong export performance during the first four months of the year reflects the growing competitiveness of Egyptian products in international markets.” He projected total garment exports of roughly $4.4 billion for 2026, a record level, citing new factory capacity, foreign investment and diversification efforts as drivers of the sector’s growth.
