Egypt Health Minister launches first surgical robot at Nasser Institute
Egypt's Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khalid Abdel Ghaffar, met with representatives of Technovive and Medbot to plan the deployment of surgical‑robot technology in the country. The discussion included establishing a dedicated training centre at the Princess Fatima Medical Vocational Academy to certify medical teams on robotic procedures, initially focusing on urology, obstetrics, general surgery, and cardiac‑thoracic operations.
The first robotic system is slated to be installed at the Nasser Institute Hospital as a pilot, with a view to expanding the technology to major hospitals nationwide. The ministry emphasised that robotic surgery offers higher precision, improved patient safety and faster recovery, and aims to position Egypt as a regional hub for advanced medical training and practice.
