Egypt's rollout of AI‑assisted medical technology

In late July 2026 Egypt accelerated the introduction of advanced medical technologies. On July 22, the president of Cairo University inaugurated the country’s first AI‑enabled gastrointestinal endoscopy unit at the Student Hospital in Giza, featuring a Japanese‑imported system that provides high‑resolution imaging and AI‑driven lesion detection.

A week later, on July 29, the Minister of Health and Population announced the deployment of Egypt’s first surgical‑robot system at Nasser Institute Hospital. The rollout includes plans for a dedicated training centre at the Princess Fatima Medical Vocational Academy to certify teams in robotic procedures across multiple specialties, with an aim to expand the technology to major hospitals nationwide.

Together, the initiatives mark a coordinated push to embed AI and robotic platforms into Egyptian healthcare, targeting improved diagnostics, surgical precision, and the development of a regional hub for advanced medical training.
