Egypt health ministry highlights shift toward preventive care
Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population has highlighted the impact of presidential health initiatives in shifting the national healthcare strategy from reactive treatment to proactive prevention and early diagnosis.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry, noted that the '100 Million Healthy Lives' initiative is a cornerstone of this transformation. A major success cited was the fight against Hepatitis C; Egypt has transitioned from having one of the highest infection rates globally prior to 2014 to achieving the 'gold level' status from the World Health Organization in its path toward elimination within less than a decade.
The healthcare strategy aims to support citizens throughout their entire lives, including premarital health screenings to identify genetic risks, pregnancy and childbirth support, and pediatric care. The Ministry emphasizes a holistic approach to health that encompasses physical, psychological, and social well-being.
