Egypt Hosts Quad Foreign Ministers Meeting on Regional Stability and US‑Iran Accord

Egypt welcomed the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan to Cairo for the fourth regional “quad” meeting on 21 June 2026. The ministers – Badr Abdel‑Aati (Egypt), Prince Faisal bin Farhan (Saudi Arabia), Hakan Fidan (Turkey) and Muhammad Ishaq Dar (Pakistan) – discussed a range of crises, including the recent U.S.–Iran memorandum of understanding signed on 18 June, the Gaza conflict, the Sudan war, and Libya’s political split.

President Abdel Fattah al‑Sisi highlighted Egypt’s role as a hub for dialogue and stressed that lasting stability requires a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue. The joint statement reiterated Egypt’s firm support for Sudan’s unity and sovereignty, called for a humanitarian cease‑fire, and urged swift implementation of the U.S.–Iran deal to reduce regional tensions and safeguard energy routes.

The ministers pledged deeper coordination through the quad mechanism, stressing the importance of collective security, free navigation, and the principle of good neighbourliness across the Middle East and the broader region.
