Egypt Housing Minister monitors encroachment removal in new cities

Egypt's Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Randa El-Minshawi, has been monitoring the results of campaigns aimed at removing encroachments, addressing violations, and improving service efficiency in several new cities.

In New Cairo, authorities intensified efforts to clear street vendor encroachments in the Fifth Settlement and addressed illegal kiosks in the Beit Al-Watan service area. Construction violations, including unauthorized rooftop rooms in the First Settlement, were also targeted. In Shorouk City, campaigns focused on clearing encroachments to reopen pathways for residents.

In Obour City, field monitoring included maintenance of green spaces, lighting, and pedestrian tunnels. Regulatory actions in Obour during July 2026 resulted in the removal of 35 road encroachments, 117 illegal electrical connections, and various unauthorized advertisements and kiosks, alongside the issuance of 700 road encroachment reports.
