Egypt Housing Minister reviews rapid response and urban projects

Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Randa El-Menshawy, reviewed the performance of the ministry’s ‘Rapid Response System’ for July 2026. The system monitors distress calls and reports shared via social media and digital platforms to coordinate responses regarding housing, water, sewage, and urban maintenance.

During July, the system addressed complaints in several governorates, including Red Sea, Luxor, Beni Suef, Giza, Minya, and Matrouh. Key actions included resolving water shortages, repairing sewage issues, and managing internal transport and cleanliness complaints in New Cairo and Hadayek October. The ministry also monitored inquiries related to social housing and the ‘Beit Al-Watan’ project for Egyptians living abroad.

Additionally, Minister El-Menshawy inspected various infrastructure and residential projects. This included sewage works in Alexandria, residential developments in Minya, Fayoum, Assiut, Beni Suef, and Qena, and the construction of Shifa Alamein Hospital in New Alamein City through a public-private partnership.

In line with national green building strategies, the National Authority for Building and Housing Research also met to discuss integrated waste management plans for new cities, involving companies specializing in converting waste into energy and resources.
