Egypt implements new winter time business operating hours

Egypt is implementing new operating hours for various commercial activities in accordance with the transition to winter time. These regulations follow Decree No. 456 of 2020 issued by the Minister of Local Development.

Commercial shops and malls are scheduled to operate from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Extensions are permitted until 11:00 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, and during official holidays. Workshops and craft businesses will operate from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, though exceptions exist for roadside workshops, gas station services, and urgent service providers.

Restaurants, cafes, and bazaars are permitted to operate from 5:00 AM until midnight, with hours extending to 1:00 AM during holidays. Delivery services for these establishments are allowed to continue 24 hours a day. Essential services, including pharmacies, bakeries, and grocery stores, are exempt from these specific time restrictions to ensure continuous access for citizens.
