Egypt initiates real estate market oversight and new housing programs

The Egyptian government has launched an initiative to identify distressed real estate projects that have failed to deliver residential units to buyers. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that the Ministry of Housing is coordinating with regulatory bodies to assess these cases and develop legal frameworks to protect both investors and homeowners.

In related housing developments, the Ministry of Housing has significantly expanded the ‘Beit Al Watan’ program for Egyptians living abroad. Following high demand, the number of available land plots has been increased by approximately 242%, from 4,543 to 15,545 plots across 25 new cities, including New Cairo, Sheikh Zayed, and New Alamein.

Additionally, the government is preparing to launch the ‘Housing for All Egyptians 9’ program, which offers 15,000 rental units for low-income citizens. The application process will be conducted via the Digital Egypt platform, with specific phases designated for people with disabilities starting September 20, 2026, followed by a general phase for all eligible citizens.
