Egypt intensifies wheat production and agricultural land protection

Agricultural authorities in Egypt are intensifying efforts to bolster wheat production and protect arable land. In Sharqia, the third phase of the ‘Izra’ initiative, launched by the National Alliance for Civil Development Work and implemented by the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services, is promoting wheat cultivation to enhance food security. The program provides farmers with technical guidance, certified seeds at reduced prices, and training on climate change adaptation and modern agricultural technologies.

In Beni Suef, the Directorate of Agriculture reported significant wheat delivery figures. From a total planted area of approximately 116,381 feddans, substantial quantities were received by various entities, including the Holding Company for Food Industries, the Agricultural Bank of Egypt, and the Holding Company for Silos and Storage.

Additionally, authorities in Beni Suef are actively monitoring agricultural land to prevent encroachments, reporting the removal of several recent and old violations. Field campaigns are also ongoing to regulate the distribution of fertilizers and pesticides, monitor livestock production, and oversee feed shops to ensure compliance with technical and regulatory standards.
