Egypt launches 10 billion EGP industrial investment fund

The Egyptian Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade has established the ‘Egypt Sub-Fund for Industrial Investment’ with an authorized capital of 10 billion Egyptian pounds. The fund aims to provide flexible, long-term financing to overcome traditional funding challenges in the industrial sector.

Legislative and business leaders have highlighted several priorities for the fund's success. Mustafa El-Behy, Secretary of the House of Representatives Industry Committee, emphasized that the fund should focus on deepening local manufacturing, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within supply chains, and localizing production technology rather than merely financing imports or assembly. He also suggested revitalizing unused industrial assets and lands.

The Egyptian Society of Businessmen (EJB) noted that the fund is a strategic step toward building a more competitive, export-oriented economy. The EJB highlighted that the fund is particularly vital given high interest rates and rising financing costs. By involving the sovereign wealth fund, the initiative is expected to attract private capital and international partnerships, helping to increase foreign currency inflows through expanded exports.
