Egypt launches 25,000 rental and rent-to-own housing units

Egypt's Ministry of Housing and the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund have launched a major housing initiative targeting low-income citizens and young newlyweds. The program includes the availability of approximately 25,000 residential units through various rental and rent-to-own schemes.

Under the ‘Housing for All Egyptians 9’ initiative, 15,000 units are being offered via the Social Housing Fund with rental terms of three years, renewable for another three, after which tenants can apply for ownership. These rents range from 1,500 to 5,200 EGP. Additionally, the New Urban Communities Authority is offering 10,000 units on a 20-year rent-to-own basis, with monthly payments ranging from 3,500 to 12,000 EGP.

To improve service efficiency, the Ministry has also introduced digital services, including an electronic system for obtaining clearance certificates for social housing units. Furthermore, the Ministry's ‘Rapid Response System’ has been active in monitoring and addressing citizen complaints regarding water services, construction violations, and urban maintenance across various governorates.
