Egypt launches national livestock vaccination campaign

The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has announced the launch of its second national livestock vaccination campaign for 2026. Starting Saturday, August 29, the initiative aims to protect livestock against foot-and-mouth disease and Rift Valley fever across all governorates.

Managed by the General Organization for Veterinary Services, the campaign will deploy trained veterinary teams to villages and centers to vaccinate cattle, buffalo, sheep, and goats. The program includes registration, numbering, and epidemiological surveillance to prevent the spread of epidemic diseases and minimize economic losses.

In addition to vaccinations, the campaign will feature community awareness efforts and disinfection operations at livestock markets. Authorities have urged breeders to cooperate with veterinary committees to ensure the protection of national livestock resources and increase productivity.
